IPOH (Oct 4): Housing and Local Government (KPKT) Minister Nga Kor Ming (pictured) has directed the Town and Country Planning Department (PLANMalaysia) to conduct a more thorough study on the resolutions presented at the Urban Renewal Convention (URA).

He said the study would include proposals for improving the Urban Renewal Bill (RUU PSB), with amendments to the bill being introduced if the resolutions and suggestions put forth by Umno are found to be practical and beneficial for all parties. "As a people-centric government, the ministry (KPKT) adheres to the principles of an open heart, open mind, and open door.

"I welcome all constructive feedback, as it will be considered when drafting any act or legislation. The aim of RUU PSB is to help the people, particularly residents of dilapidated and rundown flats," Nga told reporters after the Sumbangan Kasih Madani Sempena Deepavali programme here on Saturday.

At the event, 625 secondary school students from the Buntong state constituency were each presented with RM400, amounting to a total of RM250,000.

When asked when he would present the Urban Renewal Bill for its second reading in the Dewan Rakyat, Nga said this would be done after Budget 2026 is tabled.

The URA Convention, organised by Umno, brought together various stakeholders to discuss urban redevelopment issues, including legal, socio-economic, and community welfare aspects.

The resolutions demonstrate Umno's commitment to finding solutions to the challenges faced by the people, especially in relation to urban renewal and the well-being of city residents. Credits: Edgeprop.my - Published Oct 6th 2025 - Bernama
