Kampung Sungai Baru statement based on official records, says FT minister

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 14): Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said on Monday that all information she presented in the Dewan Rakyat regarding the Kampung Sungai Baru land acquisition was based on official government documents on record.

She said claims by former federal territories minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa that she had lied to Parliament, made false accusations, and distorted facts during the minister’s briefing session last Thursday were serious and unfounded.

“The allegations made are a serious slander that tarnishes my reputation as a minister and undermines the integrity of Parliament itself. “If he claims that I distorted facts, then he should come forward and present evidence to the contrary. The integrity of the Dewan Rakyat cannot be compromised with baseless accusations,” she said in a Facebook post.

Zaliha said the government’s current focus is to ensure that residents who have agreed to the resettlement plan can return to Kampung Sungai Baru promptly and receive their rightful entitlements.

Earlier, Annuar reportedly issued a notice demanding an explanation from Zaliha over her statement in Parliament, in which she said the Kampung Sungai Baru land acquisition process was rushed and completed within just three days in 2021. Credits: Edgeprop.my - Published Oct 14th 2025 - Bernama
